About CosMoS
CosMoS is a Content Management System to facilitate the creation and management of websites. It is a powerful engine to use as the backbone of your website. The system is written by proycon in PHP5, and provides its content in xhtml and css2, guaranteeing a professional and standards-compliant site.
When using CosMoS as the engine to power your site, you can focus on what matters most: the site's actual content, whilst leaving the layout, navigation, and other technicalities to the engine. CosMoS especially focuses on the multilingual aspects of a site.
Do note that CosMoS does not enable you to create layouts interactively, for maximum control that is still a matter of making your own CSS styles, imagery and editing some include files (see the documentation)
Some major features of the engine thus-far are:
- Online user-friendly administration panel, allowing you (and others you grant access) to update your site at any time, from any place. Requires only very basic CosMoSHTML knowledge, though allows for extensive control.
- Automatic backups of page content
- Very strong multilingual support (always using unicode), and built-in translation center
- A secure login and rights system, enabling you to create multiple users and restrict access to certain pages/areas
- An event log logging errors, warnings, notices and information
- A built-in search engine lets you search through all pages on your own site
- Basic image-gallery functionality (with automatic thumbnails)
- Statistics module(optional):
- Detailed statistics on the visitors you receive
- Form module (optional):
- Contact form/survey/quiz functionality
- Messagebox module (optional):
- Messageboard/guestbook/forum functionality

- Log/blog/news functionality (RSS capable)
Technical:
- Extremely modular architecture, easily extensible
- CosMoSHTML is merely a superset of HTML, each module can define tags of its own, this tag mechanism is the primary method of invoking modules. (but there is a direct method too when needed)

- Storage in XML files or DBMS (MySQL) (definable per area)

CosMoS is fully open-source, licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), and as-such comes with no warranty. With the notable exception that CosMoS as part of the the services of Proycom Webdesign, will come with a full warranty of course.
